Mammoth re sign goalie Nash and forward Prepchuk to one year deals News

The Colorado Mammoth re-signed goaltender Gee Nash and forward Ben Prepchuk to one-year contracts on Monday.

Both were key members of the Mammoth squad that won the National Lacrosse League championship last May.

Nash, a 28-year-old native of Ajax, Ont., was 6-3 last season with a 10.29 goals-against average. He also went 2-0 in the playoffs and made 41 saves in the championship game against the Buffalo Bandits.

Nash is a two-time NLL all-star and was named the league's goaltender of the year in 2004.

Prepchuk, a 27-year-old native of Sherwood Park, Alta., had 12 goals and 19 assists in 15 games last season. He recorded one goal and six assists in three playoff games.

``Both of these players took on very unselfish roles last season and played a huge part in our success,'' Mammoth GM Steve Govett said in a statement. ``We're very excited to welcome them back because we need their veteran leadership and consistent strongplay if we want to achieve our goal of another title in 2008.''
