Yokohama, Japan (Sports Network) - Alexander Munoz of Venezuela won a 12-round unanimous decision over local favorite Katsushige Kawashima to keep his WBA super flyweight title Monday.
Munoz (32-2, 27 KOs) dominated early and withstood a late charge by the 33- year-old Kawashima (32-7, 21 KOs) to win on all three scorecards, 115-114, 115-113 and 117-111.
The bout marked Munoz's second title defense since regaining the belt from Japan's Nobuo Nashiro in May of 2008.
Kawashima announced his retirement after the fight.
